| Описание аверса | Central field occupied by a large royal crown flanked by two small roses, one on each side, with the initial letter K (for Karolus) appearing below, flanked by annulets. The design is bold and stylized in the Gothic manner typical of Capetian coinage. A beaded inner circle separates the central device from the surrounding circular legend. The peripheral legend, rendered in Gothic lettering, reads + FRANCORVM° REX, identifying Charles as King of the Franks. The entire composition is characteristic of the hammered billon coinage of the French royal mint under Charles IV. |

| Описание реверса | Central device consists of a floriated cross pattée with fleur-de-lys terminals at each arm, elegantly filling the inner field and intersecting the inner beaded circle at the base. The four quadrants formed by the cross arms are plain. A beaded inner circle encloses the cross, beyond which the circular legend + MONET-A° NOVA is inscribed in Gothic characters, denoting this as new money. The outer border is formed by a ring of alternating triangular points, consistent with the dentilated edge treatment standard on French royal billon deniers of this period. |
