Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of Queen Maria II facing left, with hair arranged in tight curls and drawn up at the back, set within a beaded inner border. The encircling legend reads MARIA·II·PORTUQ·ET·ALGARB·REGINA, with the date 1850 appearing in the lower exergual area separated by dots. The portrait is rendered in a simple, unadorned neoclassical style consistent with mid-19th century Portuguese colonial coinage patterns.

A royal crown surmounts the shield above. The legend PARDAO DE GOA arcs along the lower portion of the coin within a beaded border, identifying the denomination and place of issue.
