| Reverse description | Central field carries a multi-line Arabic inscription in Ottoman script. The upper portion reads the honorific phrase 'Azza nasruhu' (may his victory be glorified), followed by the mint formula 'duriba fi Misr' (struck in Egypt) identifying the Misr (Cairo) mint. The regnal year AH 1115 (corresponding to 1703/1704 CE) appears at the base of the inscription, denoting the first year of Ahmed III's reign. A simple incuse circle border frames the design on some specimens. The strike is characteristic of hammered provincial Ottoman production, with softness and irregularity in the flan edges. |
