San Marino has no central bank and no independent currency — it uses the euro under a monetary agreement with the EU, which grants it a small annual allocation of euro coins but no banknotes. A 2025 paper note attributed to San Marino sits outside any recognized issuing framework and is almost certainly a souvenir or fantasy item, not a circulating or legally tendered instrument.
