| Beschrijving voorzijde | Obverse depicts a stylized pagoda or temple tower motif rendered in the traditional South Indian hammered style, featuring two prominent domed finials or kalasa forms flanking a central vertical element, all surmounted by a row of granular beading. The design is executed in high relief with a characteristic granular texture throughout the field, consistent with the Arcot mint pagoda coinage tradition. The irregular flan exhibits the uneven edges typical of hammered gold coinage of this period. |

Umdat ul Umara inherited the Carnatic nawabship in 1795 under circumstances the East India Company found immediately inconvenient — his father Amir ul Umara had signed a secret treaty with Tipu Sultan, and British suspicions never fully lifted. When Umdat ul Umara died in 1801, the Company used the occasion to annex the Carnatic outright, terminating the nawabdom and absorbing its revenues directly into Company administration. This pagoda is among the last indigenous gold coinage issued under nawabi authority before that extinction.
