Obverse description Draped and armored bust of King John II Casimir Vasa facing right, wearing a closed imperial crown surmounted by a cross, with long flowing curled hair falling to the shoulder. The king is depicted in elaborate plate armor with a fur-trimmed mantle, and a decorative chain is visible at the neckline. The bust is enclosed within a beaded inner border. The encircling Latin legend reads IOAN CAS D G POL & SUEC REX M D L RUS PRUS, identifying the ruler as King of Poland and Sweden and Grand Duke of Lithuania, Russia, and Prussia. The engraver's initials IHN (for Johann Höhn) appear below the truncation.
