| Additional information |
These orty were struck at Lwów during the Swedish Deluge — the catastrophic Swedish invasion that saw Warsaw and Kraków both fall and Jan II Kazimierz flee to Silesia in 1655. The Lwów mint became one of the few functioning royal mints left on Polish soil, and its output during this period carried genuine fiscal urgency: the Commonwealth needed coin to pay troops while its treasury was effectively in exile. Production quality suffered accordingly, and the issues from these years show considerably more variation in die alignment and flan preparation than peacetime output from Kraków or Poznań.
The Kop references cited span several distinct die varieties, including differences in the king's title abbreviation and crown placement — details that matter considerably to specialists working this series.
