| Description de l’avers | Right-facing draped bust of King Jan II Kazimierz Waza wearing an elaborate royal crown with floral finials, his long flowing hair falling to the shoulder, dressed in armour with a lace cravat visible at the neck. The portrait is rendered in a bold baroque style characteristic of mid-17th-century Polish coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the effigy, reading clockwise from the upper right and continuing around the full circumference of the flan. |

| Description du revers | Crowned quartered shield of arms of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth at centre, displaying the Polish White Eagle in the first and fourth quarters, the Lithuanian Pahonia (mounted knight) in the second and third quarters, with the Vasa dynastic escutcheon (a sheaf/Garbe) on an inescutcheon at the centre point. The shield is surmounted by a royal crown and flanked by the denomination numerals '1' and '8' (for 18 groszy). The mint mark 'IC' appears in a rectangular cartouche at the base of the shield. The date 1656 and the circular legend are distributed around the periphery of the coin. |
