| Reverse description | Central field displays a four-line Arabic legend within a beaded oval cartouche giving the mint name and Hijri regnal year, reading 'Struck in / Constantinople / 1223 / [Regnal Year]'. Below the cartouche appears a small decorative bow or knot ornament. The regnal year numeral, varying from 25 to 32 depending on the year of issue, appears at the top of the cartouche above the main legend. The entire central device is encircled by a beaded border, surrounded in turn by the same stylized floral and foliate wreath found on the obverse, consistent with the decorative aesthetic of late Mahmud II coinage. |
