Obverse description Full-length standing figure of Duke Cesare d'Este, armored and crowned, facing right in the Hungarian ducat style, holding a scepter in his right hand and a sword in his left. The ducal effigy is rendered in high relief typical of late Renaissance Italian hammered coinage. The date 1·59·8 is divided and appears at the feet of the figure. The legend CAESAR DV X MVT REG runs along the lower left of the coin field.

Reverse description Crowned quartered coat of arms of the Este dynasty prominently centered in the field, displaying the heraldic quarters associated with the House of Este, including eagles and fleurs-de-lis. The shield is surmounted by a ducal crown of ornate design. The surrounding legend NOBILITAS ESTENSIS encircles the arms, affirming the noble lineage of the Este family. The entire composition is framed within a beaded border consistent with hammered gold coinage of the period.
