Obverse description Wreathed head of Persephone facing left, her flowing wavy hair bound with a grain wreath rendered in fine relief, with loose curling locks falling along the neck. The goddess's features are depicted in the refined Hellenistic style characteristic of Syracusan coinage, with a serene, idealized profile. A torc or curved ornament appears to the right of the neck in the field. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, with no legend on the obverse.
