Obverse description Griffin sejant left, with eagle's head, open beak, and erect wings folded against the body; the right forepaw raised. The magistrate's name in Greek letters (ΕΚΑΤ, an abbreviation of Hekataios) appears in the left field. The figure is rendered in the bold, archaic style characteristic of early Abderite coinage, with fine detail in the feathering of the wings and the leonine haunches.

Reverse description Deep quadripartite incuse square divided by raised ridges into four equal recessed compartments, each with a slightly concave surface, forming a symmetrical windmill or skew pattern typical of early fifth-century Thracian coinage. The incuse is cleanly struck and occupies nearly the full reverse field, with no additional legend or subsidiary design.
