Beschrijving voorzijde A Macedonian horseman standing to the right, holding the bridle of a horse that stands quietly beside him; the figure wears a petasos (broad-brimmed traveler's hat) and chlamys, and carries two transverse spears in his left hand. The composition is rendered in archaic Greek style, with bold, confident engraving typical of early Macedonian coinage. The horse is depicted in profile with naturalistic musculature, its bridle clearly articulated. The design fills the broad flan characteristic of large-denomination Macedonian silver issues of the early fifth century BC.

Beschrijving keerzijde A quadripartite incuse square dominating the reverse field, divided by raised ridges into four equal recessed compartments arranged in a symmetric grid pattern. The incuse is deeply struck, with each quadrant presenting a slightly granular, hammered surface. This mill-sail or windmill incuse design is characteristic of early Macedonian octadrachms struck under Alexander I and served as the standard reverse type throughout his reign. The bold geometric simplicity of the incuse contrasts with the elaborate figurative obverse, following the archaic Greek coinage convention of the period.
