| Obverse description | Maimonides is depicted in high relief as the 'Great Eagle', his winged figure surmounting a map of the Mediterranean world, with stars marking the regions where he lived and worked. The central field bears large Hebrew letters forming the acronym 'Rambam', with his full name and Hebrew life dates in smaller lettering below.
