| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Severus Alexander facing right, depicted in the provincial Syrian style typical of the Antioch mint. The emperor's effigy is rendered in moderately high relief against a flat field, with drapery visible at the truncation of the shoulder. A circular Greek legend runs along the periphery, reading AVT KAI MAΡ AVΡ CEO AΛEXANΔΡOC CE, identifying the emperor by his full imperial titulature. |

| Reverse description | A large eagle displayed at center, wings spread and head turned to the right, standing upon a thunderbolt; the eagle serves as the principal civic type of Antioch's bronze coinage. The denomination mark Δ ε (= 8 assaria) appears in the upper field, flanked by the letters S and C (Senatus Consulto) to the left and right respectively. The circular peripheral legend ANTIOXIΩN MH KO identifies the coin as issued by the Antiochenes with the status of metropolis and colonia. |
