Aanvullende informatie

The 1813 Catalan ochavo was struck under extraordinary circumstances — Catalonia had been annexed directly into the French Empire by Napoleonic decree in January 1812, effectively removing it from Spanish jurisdiction entirely. That this coin was produced at all reflects the administrative chaos of the final years of the Peninsular War, as French control over the region was already crumbling when these pieces entered circulation.
