Obverse description Central upright cross with a stylized tree or foliate branch issuing from its base, the vegetal elements flanking the cross shaft in a symmetrical arrangement. The horizontal legend ARAGON is inscribed across the field on either side of the cross arm, in rough Romanesque lettering. The overall design is characteristic of the crude hammered coinage of the Aragonese kingdom in the late 11th century.
