| Obverse description | Central cross with splayed arms occupying the field, surrounded by a beaded inner circle forming a dotted border. The cross divides the flan into four quadrants, with the design executed in low relief characteristic of hammered medieval coinage. The overall composition is crude yet typical of 10th–11th century Catalan feudal issues. The legend GIRVNDΛ runs around the periphery in Latin characters, referencing the mint city of Gerona. The irregular flan shape and variable strike are consistent with hand-hammered production of the period. |
