Obole Massalia Feugère

Massalia's small silver fractions circulated far beyond the colony's own walls — archaeological finds place them across southern Gaul, northern Italy, and into Iberia, carried by the same trade networks that moved wine, olive oil, and ceramic goods inland. The Feugère & Py classification, published in 2011, finally brought systematic order to a series that earlier cataloguers had lumped together too broadly, and série 163 sits among the later issues in the sequence, reflecting the colony's sustained minting activity well into the second century BC.
