Obverse description A fleur-de-lis occupies the center of the coin field, rendered in the Gothic style typical of late medieval French hammered coinage. The motif is set within a beaded inner circle, beyond which an uncial Latin legend runs around the periphery. The flan is irregular and slightly concave, characteristic of hand-struck billon pieces of the period. The overall design is bold and stylized, reflecting the Dauphiné regional coinage tradition under Louis XI.
