| Obverse description | Bust of Shapur II facing right, wearing the distinctive Sasanian royal crown adorned with a crenellated upper element and korymbos (hair-bundle), with pearl-beaded diadem ties visible behind the neck. The king is depicted in profile with elaborate court regalia including beaded necklace and royal robes. The field surrounding the effigy is plain, and the entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. The style is characteristic of early-to-mid Sasanian die engraving, with bold, slightly crude features typical of provincial or fractional coinage of this reign. |
