Obverse description Draped bust of Shapur II facing right, surmounted by a mural crown with korymbos and inner ribbon, characteristic of Sasanian royal iconography. A symbol appears to the right of the bust in the field. The portrait is rendered in the stylized manner typical of early Sasanian silver coinage, with bold, schematic features. An inscription in Inscriptional Pahlavi accompanies the effigy.
