The legend RICA RDVS, reading the name of Richard, is distributed across the quarters in bold, deeply struck Gothic-influenced lettering characteristic of Angevin feudal coinage. A small pellet or annulet appears at the center of the cross. The coin is struck on an irregular flan with a slightly uneven border, typical of hammered billon issues of the period. |
