| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field features a plain pattée cross within a raised inner circle, with four ornamental motifs — crescents and pellets — occupying the four quadrants between the cross arms. The overall composition is characteristic of Carolingian-derived feudal coinage of southern France. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the periphery, consistent with hand-hammered production. A beaded or corded border frames the entire design. The die work is bold but somewhat crude, reflecting provincial workshop practice of the mid-twelfth century. |
