Obverse description A plain cross with an annulet at its center occupies the field, its arms extending toward the inner beaded circle. The Latin legend BARQINONA (Barcelona) runs continuously around the periphery, contained between an inner beaded circle and an outer beaded border. The overall style is characteristic of medieval Catalan hammered billon coinage, with an irregular flan and somewhat weak strike typical of the period.

Reverse description A long cross divides the field into four quarters, each angle containing a small annulet as a decorative device. The royal Latin legend PETR RE:X: (Petrus Rex — King Peter) is distributed around the periphery, enclosed between an inner solid circle and an outer beaded border. The design is typical of the Barcelona coinage type issued under Peter II of Aragon, struck on an irregular hammered flan with characteristic medieval workmanship.
