| Reverse description | A long cross divides the reverse field into four quarters, each angle occupied alternately by a bird and a pontifical tiara, emblems of the archiepiscopal dignity of Arles. The cross extends to the inner border, with the symbols rendered in a stylized, slightly crude manner characteristic of hammered billon feudal coinage of the period. A surrounding Latin legend in uncial characters runs along the outer field within a beaded border. The irregular flan exhibits typical characteristics of hand-struck medieval ecclesiastical issues. |
