The face displays prominent features including a full beard, large eyes, and strongly modeled nose and lips, executed with the bold yet somewhat schematic relief typical of late 5th- to early 4th-century Lycian workshop practice. A small lion's head or protome appears to the left of the main effigy, a dynastic symbol frequently associated with Mithrapata's coinage. The flan is irregularly shaped and the background field shows the characteristic incuse striations of hand-hammered production. No legend appears on the obverse. |

To the upper left of the owl, a crescent or Lycian symbol is visible, and to the right, two Lycian alphabetic characters forming an abbreviated dynastic inscription. The entire design is set within a shallow incuse square punch, a hallmark of hammered coinage of this period and region.
