| Obverse description | Lion advancing to the right in a highly schematic, archaic style characteristic of Achaemenid-period Cilician fractional coinage. The feline's body is rendered with pronounced musculature suggested by pellet-like beading along the haunches and shoulder, with the head turned forward in a frontal pose. The field is flat and unadorned, consistent with the small module of this obol denomination. The design is boldly struck despite the irregular fabric of the flan. |
