Obverse description Central field occupied by the Hungarian royal arms, a quartered shield displaying the characteristic Árpád stripes (barry of eight) in the upper left and lower right quarters, with the Anjou lilies and the Corvinus raven device in the remaining quarters, all rendered in the crude but vigorous style typical of late-medieval Hungarian hammered coinage. The shield is set within a beaded or irregular border characteristic of the hammered technique. No legend is present on this side.
