| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central cross with pellets in the angles occupies the field, surrounded by the imperial legend. The die is crudely engraved in the Carolingian hammered tradition, with uneven letter spacing characteristic of provincial workshop production. The legend reads HLVDOVVICVS IMP AVG, identifying Louis the Pious as emperor augustus, disposed around the periphery.
