Reverse description A plain Latin cross occupies the central field, dividing it into four quarters; a crescent and a trefoil (clover) motif appear in diagonally opposite angles of the cross, serving as the heraldic symbols of the Lordship of Bourbon. The design is contained within a beaded or plain inner circle. The peripheral legend BORBONENSIS, introduced by a cross pattée, identifies the issuing lordship and is inscribed in the same provincial Latin majuscule script as the obverse, with characteristic irregularities of hammered feudal manufacture.
