Obverse description Central field displays a pal (vertical bar) accosted on either side by three pellets, the whole touching a sickle-shaped element; below, a small crosslet appears in the lower field. The design is rendered in a crude, archaic style typical of feudal French hammered coinage. The surrounding legend is composed of widely spaced Latin capital letters running along the coin's periphery.
