| Obverse description | Laureate bust of the emperor Galba facing right, draped at the shoulder, rendered in the provincial style of the Alexandrian mint. The Greek legend surrounds the effigy, reading ΣΕΡΟΥΙ ΓΑΛΒΑ ΑΥΤΟΚ ΚΑΙΣ ΣΕΒΑ, translating as Servius Galba Emperor Caesar Augustus. The portrait displays the characteristic aged features of Galba, with a pronounced jawline and laurel wreath tightly fitted to the head. The flan is irregular and somewhat worn, as is typical for hammered provincial bronze coinage of this period. |
