| Beschrijving keerzijde | An eight-rayed star with elongated triangular rays radiating symmetrically from a central raised pellet, all set within a plain field. The design fills the flan, with each ray tapering to a fine point. The motif is boldly struck and well-centered, serving as the principal type for coinage of Evagoras II of Salamis. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Evagoras II ruled Salamis as a client of Persia following the failed revolt of his father Nikokreon — or more precisely, he was installed after the Persians reasserted control over Cyprus in the 380s, a region they had never fully relinquished. His reign ended when he fled to the Spartan court and was subsequently murdered, having alienated both his Persian overlords and his own subjects. Coins of his issue survive in small numbers, consistent with a reign defined more by political instability than productive administration.
