Obverse description Central design featuring a stylized church or temple facade depicted in schematic form, with a triangular pediment surmounting a columned portico, rendered in the crude but characteristic Romanesque hammered style. The architectural motif occupies the central field and is enclosed within a circular legend. The surrounding inscription reads + GENEVA CIVITAS, identifying the city of Geneva, separated by a cross pattée at the beginning of the legend. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the edges, typical of early medieval hammered coinage.
