| Beschrijving keerzijde | A plain Greek cross with equal arms occupies the central field, set within a beaded inner circle. The cross is rendered in a bold, simple style consistent with Carolingian ecclesiastical coinage of the third quarter of the ninth century. A Latin legend runs around the outer field between the beaded circle and the coin's irregular border, identifying the mint city of Toul. A small cross or annulet serves as a stop mark at the beginning of the legend. The overall composition reflects the standardized Carolingian reverse type established under the reforms of Louis the Pious. |
