Reverse description A plain Greek cross with equal arms occupies the central field, set within a beaded inner circle. The cross is rendered in bold, slightly uneven relief, characteristic of Carolingian hammered technique. The surrounding annular legend, separated from the central motif by the beaded circle, identifies the mint as Saint-Quentin and invokes the patronage of its saint. The outer field is bounded by an additional beaded border following the irregular contour of the flan.
