Beschrijving voorzijde Diademed bust of Autophradates I facing right, rendered in the local Persepolitan style; the ruler is depicted with a prominent moustache and wears a kyrbasia (the distinctive satrapal headdress), conveying both royal and Iranian cultural identity. The portrait is executed in low relief typical of early Persis coinage, with facial features rendered with archaic simplicity characteristic of the fratarakas series.

Aanvullende informatie

Autophradates I ruled Persis as a subordinate dynast under Seleucid authority, issuing his own coinage in a tradition that blended Achaemenid iconographic memory with the political realities of post-Alexander fragmentation. The obol denomination placed these coins at the lowest practical end of silver currency — everyday commercial fractions rather than prestige pieces.

Haaff 537A is among the scarcer attributions in the Persis series, a dynasty whose fractional silver remains poorly represented in major collections.
