| Obverse description | Head of a young male deity, likely Heracles or a heroic figure, facing right, wearing a taenia or wreath of leaves rendered in archaic style. The portrait is executed with broad, somewhat schematic strokes typical of early Macedonian coinage of the late fifth century BC. The hair falls in heavy, stylized locks behind the ear. The facial features are boldly modeled, with a prominent brow and defined jaw. The field is plain and the flan is small and irregularly shaped, consistent with hand-struck silver fractions of the period. |
