| Reverse description | Quadripartite incuse square divided into four triangular sections by deeply impressed lines forming a cross, characteristic of the skew incuse technique employed in early Peloponnesian coinage. The four triangular compartments are alternately recessed, creating a pinwheel or windmill effect. The incuse is irregular in outline, consistent with hand-hammered production on a small flan. No legend or subsidiary devices are present. This reverse type is typical of small silver fractions attributed to Arkadian mints of the early Classical period. |
