Obverse description Facing gorgoneion (Gorgon mask) rendered in archaic style, depicted full face with broad nose, wide-set eyes, and tangled hair or serpents framing the visage. The mask fills the small flan, with the roughly incuse field characteristic of early Cilician hammered coinage. The die-engraving is bold despite the diminutive module, conveying the apotropaic power associated with the Gorgon type.
