| 背面描述 | Incuse square divided into four triangular compartments by two intersecting diagonal lines forming an X pattern crossed by a vertical line, creating a windmill or pinwheel-like incuse design. In the lower right triangular section, the partial letters of the civic ethnic are visible. The square incuse punch is deeply impressed and shows the characteristic early Archaic mill-sail or skew arrangement used by Orchomenos, with the letters Ρ-Ε referencing the beginning of the city name. |

Orchomenos was Thebes' chief rival for dominance of the Boeotian League during this period, and its independent coinage reflects that political friction. The city had been a major Bronze Age center — Homer names it among the wealthiest cities in Greece — and its early archaic silver issues draw on that long civic memory. The BCD Boiotia 198 lot passed through the landmark Lanz auction of the BCD collection in 2002, a reference sale that effectively set the standard attribution framework for all Boeotian coinage.
