| 裏面の説明 | Quadripartite incuse square formed by two intersecting raised lines dividing the depression into four equal recessed compartments, a standard reverse type employed on early archaic Greek fractional silver coinage. The incuse is deeply struck and roughly square in outline, with the dividing lines meeting at a central point. The plain, unadorned design is typical of the mechanical reverse punches used by Greek mints in the late Archaic period. |

Ioulis was the principal city of Keos, an island close enough to Attica that its political allegiances shifted repeatedly during the Delian League period. This obol falls within the decade of Salamis and Plataea, when Aegean minting activity surged as poleis reasserted independence or demonstrated loyalty through coined silver. Keos itself contributed ships to the Greek fleet at Salamis. The SNG Copenhagen 646 reference places this among a small, well-documented group, but surviving examples remain genuinely scarce — the denomination was spent, not saved.
