| Obverse description | Land tortoise (Testudo graeca) depicted in high relief, viewed from above, with the domed carapace prominently rendered and the head projecting upward at center. The segmented shell pattern is visible across the carapace, and the four stumpy limbs are splayed outward. The design fills the irregularly shaped flan, characteristic of early Aeginetan coinage. No legend or inscription is present; the tortoise alone serves as the civic badge of Aegina. |
