Beschrijving voorzijde Helmeted head of Athena facing right, rendered in archaic Greek style. The goddess wears a crested Attic helmet adorned with a prominent ridge and detailed cheek guards. The facial features are finely modeled for the small module, with a visible ear and clean profile. The dotted border of the flan is partially visible along the coin's irregular edge.

Aanvullende informatie

Holmoi was a minor settlement on the Black Sea coast of Pontus, and its coinage output was extremely limited — a function of its status as a small trading emporion rather than a significant polis. The SNG France specimen is among the very few attributed examples that anchor this issuer's numismatic identity at all. Holmoi's coins are sufficiently rare that attributions sometimes shifted between neighboring mints before the French collection publication helped stabilize the series.
