Obverse description Bull standing left, head turned back to the right, rendered in the archaic Greek style with careful attention to musculature and surface detail. A dotted border frames the design, and the letters VM appear in the exergue below a ground line, serving as an abbreviated ethnic or magistrate mark. The animal is depicted with characteristic Sybarite civic symbolism, the bull being the primary emblem of this prosperous Achaean colony in Magna Graecia.
