| Beschrijving keerzijde | Incuse square divided into four triangular sections by diagonal lines, creating a mill-sail or windmill pattern deeply struck into the flan. Within the incuse square, the partial legend ΛΑRI is distributed across the quadrants, rendered in archaic Greek letters. The incuse technique is characteristic of early Archaic Greek coinage of the late 6th to early 5th century BC. The overall design is bold and geometric, typical of the primitive monetary issues of Thessalian city-states. The border of the incuse square is sharply defined against the surrounding flat edge of the flan. |
