背面描述 Within a shallow incuse square, the nymph Trikke is depicted in a dynamic crouching pose, her body bending to the right with her left leg raised. She holds a hydria, tilting it to receive water issuing from a lion's-head spout situated at the upper right. A low bench or seat is visible behind her to the left. The figure is rendered in a compact archaic style, with no accompanying inscription.

附加信息

Trikka was a minor Thessalian city whose principal claim in the ancient world was its sanctuary of Asklepios — reputedly the god's birthplace, predating even the more famous cult center at Epidauros. The city struck coins in its own name during the fifth century despite sitting firmly within the political orbit of the Thessalian leagues, an assertion of local identity that the coinage physically records.

The BCD references here trace to the Berk-Collins-Dewing collection, the most exhaustive private assembly of Thessalian material ever catalogued.
