Obverse description Forepart of a wolf advancing to the left, rendered in high relief with bold archaic style. The animal's muscular haunches, raised foreleg, and open maw are depicted with considerable naturalistic detail. A beaded border frames the design along the upper edge of the flan. The rough, irregular flan is characteristic of early Thessalian hammered silver coinage.
