| Beschrijving keerzijde | An oinochoe (wine jug) depicted in profile within an incuse square, its characteristic trefoil mouth and rounded body rendered in bold relief. The Greek letter Π appears to the right of the vessel, serving as an abbreviation for Prokonnesos, the issuing city. The composition is spare and emblematic, consistent with the reverses of small Propontic fractional silver coinage of the Classical period. The incuse square frames the device with plain, slightly irregular borders. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Prokonnesos, the island in the Propontis now known as Marmara Island, was one of antiquity's primary sources of fine white marble — the same stone that built much of classical Athens. The city's coinage is rare and poorly documented, reflecting a community whose wealth moved in bulk cargo rather than retail exchange. This obol sits at the low end of an already thin series, and few examples appear in major collections.
